The Kern County Fire Department is holding a Hazard Reduction Service Provider meeting at the Frazier Park Library on Friday March 27th starting at 9:00 am.

These meetings are for contractors and others who are interested in being on the department's preferred provider list for hazard reduction in wildland areas.

This preferred provider list is also used by the Mountain Communities Chamber of Commerce when recommending service providers in the area.  If you are a Chamber member and on this list, you get a double thumbs up!

Dear Friends in the Mountain Communities,

Your Supervisor David Couch thought you would like a brief update on when the installation of the new guardrail and asphalt dike will take place; as you know, this important project will be constructed on Mil Portrero Highway from Cedar Drive to Cuddy Valley Road.

The bids for this project was opened today.  The cost of the project is just under $730,000.  Construction is slated to begin in May with anticipated completion in August.

Thank you for being so patient with us.

    Mark C. Salvaggio

As received from Mark C. Salvaggio, Constituent Services Specialist:

For your information, our Friends in the Mountain Communities

Mark, The new urinal is installed, with patch work around urinal to be completed this week. The patch work was the result of the drain pipe within the wall (Brick) had to be replaced due to deterioration. All exposed pipe that requires insulation will be re-wrapped, and the restroom repainted inside and out, with completion expected by Friday Feb. 20, 2015.... Additionally it was discovered that in the womens restroom, one of the porcelain water closets (toilet) is cracked but not leaking. this is commonly caused by freezing of the water within the bowl. We are getting the price currently to replace with a stainless steel W.C. to prevent future problems. I will keep you notified as this project progresses.

    Thank You

    Larry

The installation of new guardrail on Mil Potrero Highway from Cuddy Valley Road to Pine Mountain Club is now slated for the Spring, weather permitting.  Proper paving temperatures are a must to accommodate construction of hot mix Asphalt Mix Dike with the guardrail replacement.  The cost is estimated at $700,000.

We already completed the sealing and striping.
